For Aleut shareholders and descendants who seek to further their education, career and cultural connectedness, The Aleut Foundation offers programs that fund education, training and cultural enrichment to support the enhancement of their lives. The Aleut Foundation provides convenient access to the networks and resources necessary for shareholders and descendants to achieve their hopes and dreams.
The Aleut Foundation has a mission to support the economic and social needs of the Aleut people with scholarships for post-secondary education, career development and burial assistance for shareholders and descendants of The Aleut Corporation (TAC).
We serve the original enrollees of TAC and their descendants, as well as the beneficiaries and descendants of the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Restitution Trust.
The Aleut Foundation is a private foundation under Section 509(a)(2) and is exempt from Federal and State income taxes under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Educational Scholarships
GPA based scholarships: Scholarships for full-time college students, including working students.
Part time scholarship: Scholarships for part-time college students.
Graduate level scholarships: Scholarships for college students taking graduate level courses, including doctorates and master’s degrees.
Special Honors scholarships: Special scholarships for college students selected by our Board of Directors.
Middle & High School Programs: We assist with taking college courses in High School and offer grade 7-12 students Cash for Good Grades!
Vocational & Career Development
Scholarships for students pursuing training or certification outside of a traditional college setting.
Community Training
We provide support for community-based education and training in the Aleut region, such as HAZWOPER certification.
Internships
We will offer internship opportunities to students as they become available.
Cultural Programs
Travel Program: We assist with traveling for educational or cultural activities.
Unangam Tunuu Scholarship: Scholarships to take Aleut language classes.
Grants for Organizations: Grants to support programs provided by schools and other organizations.
Other Programs
Burial Assistance: We assist with burial costs for shareholders and descendants.
529 Incentive: We assist in saving for a young person’s college fund through a 529 account.
Emergent Electronics Program: We reimburse a portion of electronics purchased for school or training.

Director Kathy (Dushkin) Griesbaum is originally from Nikolski, Alaska. Kathy graduated from Mt. Edgecumbe and attended the University of Anchorage and Fairbanks. Kathy has three sons and currently works as program coordinator for the Southcentral Foundation in the Maternal Child Health Department. She worked for The Aleut Corporation for six years as executive secretary and later as Director of Shareholder Affairs. She was a small business owner in Anchorage for five years.
